Since departing his native Australia more than a decade ago, Ben Baker has travelled the world from his base in New York City carving out an award-winning body of work in portraiture.
Ben has successfully shot more than 40 national US covers and has worked with a diverse spectrum of clients, from Rap’s XXL, Marie Claire, Stern, Sunday Times of London, Elle, New York Magazine, ESPN, Time and Fortune, the world’s most influential business publication.
His images have been purchased for advertising needs by News Corporation, J Crew, Xerox, Zenga and commissioned by Goldman Sachs and Saatchi & Saatchi
With a passion to capture the people who define our times, Ben’s work provides unique insights into presidents, performers, those with power and those with none, people making a mark on the world however big or small.
His ability to connect with his subjects and capture the essence of who they are stems largely from his genuine interest in people.
Ben’s portrait of media tycoon, Rupert Murdoch, was purchased for the permanent collection of the prestigious National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, Australia in 2006. That same year, the gallery showcased Ben’s portraits in its successful Glossy II exhibition.
Ben’s portraiture work has travelled to Denmark as part of the National History of Denmark Show and has been twice been awarded in the American Photography Collection in 2005 and 2007.
Ben resides in New York City.
